I just took my buddies computer. A 2.4Ghz Dell (not sure of the model name) and I reformatted it. I installed Windows Xp back on to the computer and now, without his original Dell CD, I have a bunch of hardware devices that need drivers. Including his Ethernet, VGA adapter, Sound, and some other stuff. Im not even sure where his model number is located at on the computer. There 10000 different combos of numbers that could be his model number. X10-60264, OU7670, are the two that stand out... But they dont sound like model numbers. I really need these drivers ASAP because he wants the computer back before the weekend (I work with him) Some more info on the computer is its a 2.4Ghz Celeron, 512mb ram, old motherboard without even an AGP slot. Thanks guys and gals

I have this same problem with my computer right now. What I've seen is that it couldbe that you reformatted it with the service pack 2, and that doesn't have those drives.. You may have to contact dell for those drives..

Dell's model number should be right on the front.. perhaps around the power button. You may be able to get them from dell.com. if not i would call dell and have them send you a driver disk.

at the bottom of the case should be a sticker with a model number

ex: a dell dimension 8200 might have the ser # :65SQL11

take that # and go to the dell website and go to the support area and use that number in the "service tag" area. This will take you to manuals, drivers, original specs, ets.

The first drivers to install are always the chipset drivers. After that, graphics, then network, then sound. Any other drivers after that are are up to you - things like the touchpad generally don't have to be installed, as the default Windows drivers usually do a good enough job.

you may need to register the system if it is not registered already

you wont be able to get there on his computer without and ethernet driver, you will have to use a different computer. put in his service tag, it will be located probably on a white sticker maybe near a bar code symbol. once you transfer the ethernet driver to his computer and intall it, you will be able to access the website and get the other drivers that way
