Standard seating for 5 in the '98.
3rd row seats were NOT an available option (in '98).
Redesigned for 2002 with an independent rear suspension helped to facilitate the optional 3rd row, bring the seating capacity up to 7.

The Mountaineer comes with two different seating configurations. Depending on the configuration, and if you have a third row, you can seat 5-7. With a 2x2x2 configuration.. you can seat 6... if you got the bench configuration for the second row, it seats one more. If you do not have a third row, the most you will seat is 5. Hope this helps.

5 adults, or 2 adults and 4 kids ( with no car seats ).
