This is a capitalist society. People have the right to charge as much as they want for a product. How would you like it if people told you the price of your ______ was too high and not fair?

This can only be attributed to things that people cannot due without, like fuel or food.

Items that you do not need, such as the luxuries that you suggest, will not be bought if the price is too high.

As far as gas is concerned, the oil companies have not built a new refinery in 30 years while demand for refined oil products has continued to grow. This is an intentionally placed bottle neck in the supply to drive up prices and thus profits.

I don't need gold, a Mercedes or a trip to Tahiti to go to work every day. When inflation is ~3% a year, then explain how gas prices go up 30%? I understand the economics of a capitialist society and I generally approve of it. When there is a limited monopoly with limited alternative choices and the corporations are making record profits (>$10B profit a quarter) that smells of unfair competition.

I don't need gold or a Mercedes to commute to work - and I don't work in Tahiti, so I really don't care. I need gas to commute to work (indirectly, even, when I take the bus), so I do care.

the gas companies are f ucking assholes. It's Mobil that jacks up the f ucking prices. They are trying to get us to think that $3.50+ is a good price for gas, when really a good price is $1.50. They are all a ssholes.

coffee prices in relation to gas prices went higher and in a shorter amount of time!
