Your mother has arthritis and is on an anti-inflammatory like I am. Voveran is the same as Voltaren which is what I take but mine is the generic form.

Any medication one takes regularly can cause some kind of damage so it's important she try to keep some in her system to keep the pain level down. I'm supposed to take mine twice a day but many times I only get one in a day and other times I get two.

She should always take antacids about 15 minutes before taking the medication and when she takes the voveran, she needs to make sure she drinks a bottle of water with it each time to help protect her stomach and help flush it through her system. It is less apt to cause damage if she does that.

She can also look into doing liver cleansing and colon cleansing (not at the same time, though) in order to flush any toxins from her body.

I use Shaklee's Herb Lax for my colon cleanse and use that once or twice a week. I believe they also have a liver cleanse but I haven't checked into that yet. The liver cleanse can be done every 6 months.

I have tried alternative medicine and got no relief and ended up throwing good money away. She can find a homeopathic doctor in her area and give it a try and see if it helps but if not, she'll have to get back on the anti-inflammatory, drink lots of water each day and massage the areas when they hurt. If I don't take mine, I can barely walk and my fibromyalgia flairs up like mad and my back, shoulders and neck get so bad I can barely turn my head.

My cousin told me to try Glucosamine Choindrotin but it messed my stomach up pretty bad and I didn't see any improvement in my joints, unfortunately. My cousin says it helps her but she also takes anti-inflammatory medication so I'm not sure how she would know.

She is probably hitting bone on bone in the knees and along with the arthritis, may end up with worse pain down the road or like me, may have to have a knee replacement.

Good luck ~ she's very fortunate to have someone try to help her with this :)

At this age osteoarthritis is the most common condition causing pain and stiffness mainly in weight bearing joints like knee and hip joints. For this we have excellent proved medicines in unani, which are herbal in nature, effective, economical and nontoxic. These medicines provides pain relief, reduces stiffness and also repairs the cartilage damage. The most effective is HUB - E - JUGRAAJ GOOGOL 1TAB THRICE DAILY AFTER MEALS WITH PLAIN WATER. Hot and moist fomentation with hot water to be taken twice daily.
Voveran is the commercial name of the drug diclofenac it is not only a pain killer but kidney killer. Its prolong use can cause kidney failure. So it is best to avoid its continues long use.
If she has high weight than try to reduce weight by dietary modifications.

Is the pain in her knees from cartilage damage? or from Arthritis? Or just pain in general?

If it's for Cartilage, there is an herbal treatment that will mend, repair, and ultimately get rid of the pain that is associated with the damage. I will post the link below.

If it's for Arthritis, there is also a remedy (or herbal treatment) for this. After a few months (sometimes as long as 6) the arthritis is no longer there and any damage done is repaired. Usually with in the first few days she will be able to notice a difference in how she feels (over all) and the pain will be substancially less. Again, I will post the link below for this.

For pain in general, I would recommend bathing in Dead Sea Salts. They have many healing properties, some of which are healing sore muscles and relieving joint pain (no matter the cause of the pain). Not to mention, they are very relaxing to bath in. Although they are a salt, the do not dry out the skin, they actually encourage new skin to form that is healthy and moisturized.

All of the links I have posted are from the same website. The owner is an herbalist/iridologist and his main focus is helping people take charge of their health and in the process healing themselves (with his recommendations of herbs and supplements). He has a contact page also, if you would wish to call him for future questions or assistance.

I hope this helps!

I do not know what voveran is, however i know lots of people who will swear that the supplement called Glucosamine Choindrotin helps there pain in knees and joints tremendously. You can buy at any drug store. It is a pill. There is also a product called Joint Flex. It is a cream with the same supplement in it. You can use both.

People might be able to give you some help if you post addition info, such as what part of the knee hurts, what sorts of activities aggravate it, etc. But yeah, the best answer is always to go to a doctor.

Glucosamine Chondroitin is great for joint pain and back pain.
I was experiencing crippling back and knee pain and once I started taking glucosamine chondroitin daily, the pains have disappeared and haven't returned.

Very safe too. I've never experienced any side effects and I've been taking it about a year now. Mother-in-law takes it too, helps her with no side effects. Side effects like another person mentioned is very rare. And it is beneficial to most.
I even have my 13 yr old dog on it for his arthritis and he runs around now like a puppy!

2 pills of Hyaluronic acid may help..it would take around 2 months for her to see anything.

I highly reccomend you look up something called MSM. 10 grams a day-from what I heard-is extremly extremly helpfull with reducing pain, increasing blood circulation, and so much more. It's also one of the safest things to take.

she probably has arthritis. I would suggest eating fish to provide oils/fat to cushion the joints. Put some sliced ginger on her knees or rub a ginger paste over her knees. It wont smell too pretty but it should help. Eating ginger works too.
