Well your family are still your family no matter what happens. There is nothing wrong with keeping in touch with your loved ones unless they do not want to know. If they return your letters then you will know.

Hi there.
There should be no bar to it, but I would prefer to answer in short sentences. Even a long sentence should be punctuated by breaks but there is help available - my uncle was in jail and he told me his cell mate really knew how to make a colon stretch when getting his point across.
