The only two potentially deadly spiders in Texas are the Black Widow and the Brown Recluse. Black Widow bites are generally not fatal to healthy adults, but pose a greater danger to children, the elderly, or those with suppressed immune systems.

Actually, NONE are "poisonous" at all. A poison is something that you must ingest or inhale in order for it to harm you. You can eat any spider, and you would not be harmed one bit, though you'd probably still be left quite hungry!
ALL spiders have VENOM, which is an organic compound that they can inject into prey to immobilize it and begin the digestive process, from the inside out. Venom is also used, in extreme cases, for self-defense. Here in the US, only ONE spider species, the Black Widow(Latrodactus mactans), has been known to cause human fatalities, and human deaths from spider bites are still EXTREMELY rare. There are a few others that have "medically significant" venom, which can cause some serious problems requiring professional medical treatment, and those include the Brown Recluse, Yellow Sac Spider, and "Hobo" Spider, but by far, most spider species are harmless to humans. Tarantulas, which are the largest spiders(and do live in TX)are among the most docile and least likely to bite, as well as typically having very mild venom.
By the way, the so-called "Daddy Long-Legs" in the US is NOT even a spider, but a Harvestman, which is a vegetarian animal that has no fangs, no venom and cannot bite. In Australia, the "Cellar Spider"(Pholcus phalangiodes), which is also common here in the US, is called "Daddy Long-Legs", and an urban legend has grown up that they have the deadliest venom but cannot bite due to their fangs being too short. This is ABSOLUTE MYTH, people, no truth to it at all, so please stop spouting that garbage here! The last weblink I provided will hopefully clear that up... for the next five minutes, or until the next ignoramus reports that as "fact', whichever comes first!

The brown recluse bite is more dangerous than the bite of the black widow.
Black widow bites are uncomfortable but usually not fatal to a healthy adult. Small children, the elderly, or someone who has a weak immune system or is already ill can be in trouble.
The brown recluse bite can cause gangrene and do a lot of tissue damage.
The Daddy Longlegs is actually the most venomous spider, but because its 'mouth' is so small, it is no danger to humans or animals - only to flies and bugs which are its food source.

Black widow bites will make you sick but are rarely fatal. Brown recluse spider bites can cause a long-term local infection that is extremely troublesome but not normally life-threatening. Tarantula bites are very painful but not dangerous unless you are allergic to it.
Early treatment for black widow and brown recluse bites is a good idea.
None of these spiders is aggressive toward humans; where I live, everybody has black widows, but hardly anybody ever gets bitten. Brown recluse and tarantulas usually don't live in town.

Virtually all spiders use some form of venom. The mixture contains enzymes that liquify the internals of their prey so the can ingest thos contents without much of a stomach (snake venom is similar).

Black widows have a painful bite that is no more dangerous than a bee sting, unless you are allergic.

It doesn't sound like a brown recluse. Those are big and brown and hairless. Anyway, it sounds like a wolf spider, which is common in the house at least where I live in Texas. They are harmless to humans and their bite won't kill you though they're not pleasant.
