I'm starting to get into snorkeling and spear fishing and I need to get a pair of prescription goggles or lenses that I can insert in them. I was wondering if anybody could tell me where they got their's at or where a good place is to get them. I already have a pair of goggles so if I could just use those that would be easier but I will buy a new pair if I need to.

Thanks

Some people on our own swim team need prescription goggles and I've heard about some options.

I'd say the best place to go to would obviously be an eyewear store and ask them about their slection of prescription goggles. Even if they don't have what you're looking for there they can also give you vital information on your eyesight such as how many times the magnification of the goggles must be for you to have 20/20 vision, how concave or convex they must be and so on.

If you already have your numbers I've also heard of some kids ordering prescription goggles online but unfortunitely I don't know of any sites myself that do this (I've never worn glasses or contacts in my life). Lenscrafter's site might have information on this but you might have to do a little hunting to find a good site for this.

Lastly if all else fails you can always check in with an ophthalmologist and order them from their offices. I'm assuming that you've gone to them at some point if you have bad eyesight and they know a lot more about prescription goggles than I do! They're one of the best options actually but the other 2 might be quicker and less expensive in some cases.

Specsavers do indeed sell swimming goggles, but the availability does depend on your prescription so you are best off going into your local store and getting more information. I also know that the price is slightly different depending on whether your eyes both have the same prescription or whether your eyes are different prescriptions. As for contact lenses it is not advisable to wear any type of lenses in the water with or without goggles. Contact lenses should never be exposed to water that is why they provide special solutions to clean them and the disposables are suspended in sterile solution.

I've used prescription goggles, but not masks. You'll need a prescription from an optometrist/opthalmologist before you can order the lenses for goggles/masks.

A good dive shop can order the lenses. They are expensive, though. For example: http://www.thediveshop-va.com/Equipment/Sales/prescription_masks.htm

http://www.zapcom.net/~scubavsn/zap_page/html/main.htm You want a mask not goggles anyway This site is easy to use and you can use almost any mask you have now or one you buy and like (even ones from wal mart) it costs something like 90 bucks which isnt bad. Or you can try seavisionusa.com , prescriptiondivingmasks.com or if you dont want to order online try the eye man or treasure coast diving. ( i would order online )

Prescription swim goggles are at my eye doctors office. You should call your eye doctor.

I got mine from a high street optician's - Gardners -in Sunderland so I guess any decent optician will put you right. You might have to order them though.
