My 1977 mg midget has been retored. Working beatifully except I seem to nly get about 20 miles per gallon. Any suggestions?

I used to have a 78 MGB, if that's close enough. Aren't they notorious for weird problems?? How's the fuel filter? That was usually my problem...frequently. That, and the never ending oil drip that even MG couldn't figure out. I got about 25 mpg when the fuel and air filters were changed more than regularly.

check the fuel system real good on it because those cars got a lot better mileage than that.i had one of them around ten years ago and got around 27 in the city,it may be that it just needs a real food tuning,those have to be right in order for them to get the right mileage,if the timing gets off any at all ,it throws the mileage off on it,but when its right it will get a lot better than that,good luck with it.

why wouldn t a car that small get closer to 45 mpg?
