This is a very bad sign, you need to start looking for another job. This is just the tip of the iceberg, believe me it can get MUCH worse. You don't want to get your electricity turned off because this idiot "forgets" again. You should have access to the business finances as office manager, look for signs that he might be in financial trouble or taking money out of the business to pay for personal expenses, gambling debts, or drugs.
In the meantime you can also ask him to issue you a credit card in his name so you can charge groceries on it if he "forgets" again, or assuming you do the bookeeping ask him to give you authorization to sign payroll checks so you can write your own off the business account.
If you are really the office manager and he is not giving you access to the financials, then you need to find another job ASAP, this is not normal and he is probably hiding something.

I would look for another job. I would also talk to the hr department or whoever handles checks to see what the problem is. Let them know that this is a job not volunteer work and you expect to be paid like everyone else. Good Luck!

I'd find another job. How could he be so callous? Don't act like it's no big deal to you! If you do, he won't take it seriously. Sometimes in the business world you have to stand up for yourself and that can make you uncomfortable. Tell him outright that you live from paycheck to paycheck (I am assuming you do) and that you can't wait to get paid. Go on Hotjobs.com or Monster and start looking for something else. Get your resume' out there!
Good luck! :)

If you're the office manager, then I would assume you would be involved in payroll! Maybe you should sit down and discuss it with them. At no point should an employer forget someone when doing payroll, trust me! I do payroll, and I've NEVER forgotten to do anyone's paycheck! There's really no excuse for that!

Tell him you have bills to pay!!! You may like your boss and you may like your job, but ultimately, the only reason anybody works is to get a paycheck. If your boss doesn't understand that, he doesn't need you as an employee.

Remind him that you're working for an income, not strictly for the fun of it and you expect your check on pay day, just as he expects to be paid.

Let him know you have bills to pay just like he does and you expect your paycheck to be given to you on time so you can pay your bills on time.

report it to a HR if there is one, if not see if direct deposit is available and if that doesn't work out and it really makes you mad then see if there is an organization such as the Better Business Bureau that assist in situations such as these
