No I do not think Simon should leave American Idol. I get that at time he seems mean and brutal, but honestly he knows what he is talking about and I think a large percentage of viewers agree with what he is saying, especially anyone who is musically inclined.
I get that it is not pleasant to hear something negative, but the industry isn't that nice all the time. It's better for the contestants to know that and to know how they can improve.
Each judge has their role. Randy is the overall vibe guy, whether or not someone rocked a performance. Paula is there for positive reinforcement. Simon is there to be brutally honest so that the performers can improve and be the best they can be.
A note on a previous comment, I believe it was Simon Fuller who created American Idol, Simon Cowell created America's Got Talent.

No he shouldnt. Simon is one the main reasons why the show is such a huge success it is. Simons snarky, rude, and harshly critical remarks add edge, wit, spunk and character to the show. American Idol would be boring without Simon. The ratings would sink lol. Simon can be an @ss at times and i dont always agree with his critisims of the contestants performances but hes right most of the time. Simon is unpredictible and you dont know what hes going to say next lol. He amuses me

I won't say that I'm a fan of Simon's but give the man a break. He knows of what he speaks, he has years of production of music behind him - so he knows what the world wants in a singer. I realize his dry wit and dry sense of humor is sometimes extreme to us USA'ers but give him a break. That's what makes people what they are - individuals.

he's the one that started the show and runs it and funds it. When he leaves, there will be no American Idol.

you need a brit to help make decisions on who's in and who's out- otherwise you'd just have shows where everyone claps, hungs and says well done. Simon is great, he make the show the show. without him they'd be no show.

Absolutly not! His unbiased judgement is the only cure for Abdule's constant coddling, besides he gives the show character and a villian for the fans, and everyone loves a villian!
