What is the use of Wet-Dry Vac over conventional Vaccum cleaners? Can they be used for regular vaccum cleaning of carpets and floors?

Wet-Dry vacuums can vacuum up water and other liquids. You can't (or at least shouldn't) do that with conventional vacuums.

Wet-Dry vacs can also be used to vacuum up dust and dirt, too. However, they don't have the rotating brushes that conventional uprights have, so they probably wouldn't get your carpet as clean. --though, on tile/hardwood floors, there'd be no noticeable difference. One other difference, is Wet-Dry vacs can vacuum up larger bits than a conventional can. That can come in handy, especially when cleaning up after a messy home improvement project.

I have a Wet-Dry vac, though I mainly use it to clean out my car. My wife uses it when she over-waters potted plants and the tray beneath the pot begins to over-flow. --it vacuums up the water like a charm!

A wet-dry vac is very nice to have.... I've had water spill as in gallons and it's helped clean the mess nicely.... When I was without a regular vacuum I used it on my hardwood floors, furniture and carpet. So, yes- it's a solid investment....We have one that's a shop vac, but I use it to clean my family room basement....

Ewww! I haven't a clue why a normal human being would do that, wait, scrap that, I haven't a clue why ANY human being would do that!!! Gross! But how to deal with it.... What I would do is tell your babysitter that you no longer need her help and fire her (In a nice way!!). Then keep checking (like every day) if the... urine appears again while she is fired and if it does then maybe there is mice in the storage room. If it doesn't continue then call her up again (maybe after a week or two) and ask her if she could babysit one more time. If the "liquid" appears again then... well... you have your culprit. Never let her in your house again. This is disgusting. I cannot believe someone would do this. Or another alternative is to get a video camera/nanny cam and to hide it the storage room pointing at the corner where the "liquid" appears.

A wet-dry vac is used for more heavy duty things like if you have a flooded basement or something. Or if you like to build things yourself and have sawdust and larger debre to pick up. My father uses ours to clean the garage after he has been working.
