I have a problem with birds pecking at the trunk of my 'aspen' looking trees (I don't know the name).

What would you put on the trunk of the tree to discourage them from pecking? I have already lost one tree due to this (and afids) and need to find a solution.

okay here goes go get a birdbath and place a plastic owl statue in there . move it every couple of days so they think it is real and they wont mess with your tree they will go away . I know this sounds crazy but it really does work.

they might be pecking for insects maybe spray your tree with some kind of bug stuff. you can also go to a landscaping place in your town and they should help you.
