On September 20, 2001 in the days following the 911 attacks, over 91% of you supported President Bush when he said at the State Of the Union Address "We shall show no distinction between the terrorists, and the countries who harbor them".

Unless you're going to try and convince me that you were part of the other 9%, then I would really like to hear from you on when you changed your mind about the president you once supported. Is Bush not doing what 60 million Americans elected him to do? Or did Americans simply change their minds on what they wanted???

If we would all pull together on critical issues regarding our great country we wouldn't have the President of the United States being criticized by the citizens who live here. It doesn't matter what your political affiliation is Let's be the United States of America and support our leader in his endeavors.

I changed my mind when we went after the wrong people who were responsible for the horrid attacks of 9/11.

As a conservative, I was totally behind the President going after whoever was responsible for the attacks on the WTC, and still am. However, Iraq was not a part of it. So, the question remains, why did our President focus our defense resources on Iraq rather than the real culprits of the al Quaeda network found in Afghanistan and Pakistan? Sure, we toppled the Taliban regime, but not much else. Instead, our focus was redirected on Iraq for some strange bizarre reason.

By the way, I was one of the rare few conservatives who did not support the war in Iraq from the very beginning. Not for the same reasons the liberals do. I never felt threatened by Saddam Hussein or Iraq. I do not feel our country was threatened with Saddam Hussein in power. In fact, Saddam Hussein never once threatened America. I feel no safer today than I did before the overthrow and capture of Saddam Hussein. The war in Iraq has made no positive difference in my life or my country's life.

The bottom line is this... the masterminds behind the attacks of 9/11 are still very much at large and our focus has been distracted by an unjust and unnecessary war in Iraq.

I sincerely hope our troops come home soon and redirect our focus upon capturing ALL, not some, of the al Quaeda network. And forget justice... just annhilate them!

OBSERVATION: I find it very ironic that people on this post are calling Saddam Hussein a terrorist just because he killed many people. But what many people fail to understand, is that Kim Il Jong has killed many too, so has Fidel Castro, so has Momar Quadaffi, and many more. If you oust one dictator then you must oust all of the others. Why single out Saddam Hussein? Answer: There is an ulterior motive besides simply killing an evil dictator.

Hi Earnest, I never changed my mind and I am certainly NOT in the 9%. God bless our President!
I do believe that Pres.Bush has not been as effective as he should have been rallying the country and his administration has NOT been very effective in a lot of areas. But on the other hand, he has had to fight Communists at home plus terrorists. Part of his problem is that he apparently doesn't have a large enough pool of qualified people, or maybe fewer people are just not willing to put up with the lies and character assassinations associated with political appointments these days. (See the sentence about fighting Communists.)
Democrats want Republicans to follow the Democrat platform while the Republicans are in office and they want Democrats to make the decisions when they are out of office. Of course, they want the same things while Democrats are in office.

We all supported him up and until he told the American people he was not concerned about Osama Bin Ladin and he frankly doesn't think that much about him. So that tells me that he is not really serious about the teorrists, which I assume you are referring to Iraq, were not even there when we went to Iraq. They came later.

So yes we all supported him, because we thought he was telling the truth. Now we've changed our minds because we have all figured out that he's a liar. So if "we are no going to show any distinction about the countries that harbor terrorists", why haven't we invaded Saudi Arabia? Isn't that where the 9/11 terrorists called home?

I am a conservative and voted for him twice.

The 91% was an emotional response. Typical of these issues.

I turned finally when he got so behind this immigration bill. It is a blatant sell out of conservative principles.

The turning process started with

1. Medicare Part D, free drugs to seniors
2. Refusing to veto the outrageous spending.
3. Not fighting the war to win. We are fighting too nice
4. Not taking action against Iran
5. Not going after the press for leaking classified information
6. Not defending himself against baseless liberal attacks.
7. Not enforcing the immigration laws

You ask a great question. There will be lots of stupid answers

This is truly an intellectual question and I like that . I haven't even glanced at the answers yet and I do hope people answered with intellect rather than partisanship or hatred .

I have never wavered in my support for this man . Sure , he's no where near perfect , but in the 1 category that affects all other categories , he's done right . And that category is SECURITY . Again not perfect , but : Can anyone name any other President who after 8 months of duty , was faced with such a disaster like 9/11 AND the continuing threat of annihilation from Radical Islam . 1000's of threats DAILY . Some real , some not . So how do you know ? You don't !! Therefore every intelligence agency is bent over a rail and forced to check-out every single one . THEN , add to that , the fact that no President has been faced with this problem AND faced with what seems to be popular for some .. . . HATRED . Hatred at every turn , every day , from every angle . Let me ask you folks something . Could you survive at your job if you faced as much HATRED as him ? You're lying if you said Yes . Let's add some more to it . He gets intelligence reports everyday that are a threat to us all . He knows just 1 mistake and U.S. citizens are gonna die . Have any attacks happened in your city ? NOPE . But will they ? Yep !!
It's literally impossible to stop everbody and everything . But so far he has and for that I give him my respect and gratitude .

This answer is long already and I just can't wait to read the other responses .

Thank you for one of the most intellectual questions I've seen in quite a long time .

You too have my respect !!

EDIT * - I read all the answers and although I disagree with many , there's one that stands out from the rest . Steve C chose to finish his comments with a cowardly attack on a woman . I don't care if a man wants to insult me or another man , but insulting a woman is way out of bounds . Psychologists and Criminal Profilers look at that as perhaps leading to or an indicator of something much worse . I even kept this private by emailing him and requesting that he apologize . The Result ? Basically an affirmation that he'll insult any woman he wants to !! He also claims that she slung the mud at him , but just read her answer and you'll see nothing of the sort . Not what I call a REAL man . I'm sure he won't be getting any kind emails from women anytime soon .

I haven't changed my mind. I accepted the evidence that not only we had but other countries and bodies did that Iraq had WMDs and for me personally that Saddam was a promoter of terrorism by killing his only people with WMDs and political murders besides sponsoring terrorism by rewarding suicide bombers.
And to the nay Sayers I am too old based on US legislation to go to war, but I would if the raised that age since I did try to go per a contractor route involved in helping put together the new government through the State Department and contacts I had.

The attack on Iraq was never about terrorists. Remember "Weapons of Mass Destruction?"

What would you do if some "wanna be" dictator sent armies to run things in your country?

What is happening in Iraq now is a reaction to our invasion.

Bush calls it a "War on Terror," but that doesn't make it one.

I will always be against terrorists of all religions and nationalities, but I never supported Bush.

I was the 9%....I supported the Afghan business until the day we installed our hand-picked puppet and when it became apparent that Bin Laden had vamoosed after Tora Bora. The Iraqi BS was a loser from day one. Sure we won 'the war' in a matter of a few weeks...no kiddin'.....Iraq's 3rd world army was mostly composed of Swiss cheese and hot air. The occupation is where it fell apart and who didn't know that was going to happen? Everyone except the Bush Junta cold war retreads. People's minds are made up via two things..information and experiance. In the case of the Iraqi situation all the public received from 'their' government and the media stooges that covered for these idiots was bogus, 'sexed up' and flag waving blather. It wasn't 'information', it was propaganda. Propaganda works and the US public, except for me and a few million other people didn't fall for it. We were called 'America haters' and 'liberals'. Now that's all turned around, but the war drags on. Yeah..Bush lied and people died. Now we know!

confident and eagerly because of the fact I have not have been given any political bias or desire for AGW to be real. i could ask your self what difference this could make in society if AGW exchange into proved to be fake.it may look as though it may be suitable to have celebrations international extensive because of the fact a disaster exchange into prevented. i think of a few could have fun and others could be extra well-off of their way of existence options to verify. yet we do face real environmental subject concerns with or with out AGW so i think of no longer lots could truthfully exchange. The left could detect a sparkling reason to maintain the planet and the appropriate could face up to shifting faraway from capitalism. So, I do only no longer think of it may make a real super difference which might tutor it somewhat is as lots of a political and philosopical situation as a medical one.
