because I searched for it and the people who are undergraduates or college leavers they can start their career by chosing LLB program and GDL is only for those who are already graduate and just need a legal knowledge and then can go for legal practise directly. When I was in Pakistan I thought LLB is something I have to do first but after coming in UK I found several options to save my time and utilise my Graduation by doing this GDL programme. Iam asking and confirming this by exchanging ideas because its really a major decission and a question of my future.

To be very frank I never heard of this course GDL. As far LLB is concerned I did it only after my graduation, & was get enrolled with the Bar council of Delhi 24 years back. This course has recognition not only in India but even outside. So I'll suggest go in for LLB a better option in any case.

The graduate diploma in law is a 2 year part time, or 1 year full time course which covers the academic qualification towards being a lawyer. You can take this certificate if you do not have an LLB, but a degree in another subject.

Disadvantages, its very intense and expensive. If you decide to 'not' enter the law proffession, the GDL is not as widely recognized and respected as the LLB, although it should be.

Advantages, it can be completed quicker than the LLB.

I'm a non law graduate, but chose the LLB over the GDL, because the learning curve was not as steep. Studiyng law is very different to other degrees. Its very pedantic. Its a different style of learning altogether. So I chose the slower and steady route.

Good luck with your studys and maybe see you in court one day.
