The flowers will become the fruit. Once you have fruit coming, do pick off the flowers that grow on the same vine to encourage more growth to your existing fruit. You would do this for pumpkins as well.

The flowers are the beginning of the fruit. Don't pick them. Watermelons are not like strawberries where you pinch off the flowers the first year. They are annuals and will not grow again next year.

If you pick them you wont have any fruit,thats where you'll see them appear from
