WASHINGTON - A newly disclosed effort to keep Vice President Dick Cheney's visitor records secret is the latest White House push to make sure the public doesn't learn who has been meeting with top officials in the Bush administration.
Over the past year, lawyers for President Bush and Cheney have directed the Secret Service to maintain the confidentiality of visitor entry and exit logs, declaring them to be presidential records, exempt from a law requiring their disclosure to whoever asks to see them.
The drive to keep the logs secret, the administration says, is essential to assuring that the president and vice president receive candid advice to carry out their duties.

And they should be kept private, it isn't the republicans that are trying to hide facts. Nancy Pelosi has a bill going that is part of silencing the conservative voice amendment 220 and it will silence the radio programs that report the issues and how they are being handled by our goverment. The democrats are also enacting a bill to stop all whistle blowers to the media. I'm sure they will still blow the whistle on republicans but this is much more serious than the issue you describe.

They are hiding something and the bushbots are not wondering what? Why do they have to change every policy to be in their favor well in office. What is next? This administration has made a mockery of the office of the Presidency and has disgraced this country every chance they get.

Nixon was the last politician to openly admit that not prosecuting admitted administration criminals was good security to not reveal secrets by trying them. Look how his administration tanked and what the public opinion of him still is.
