Find a common denominator, or if they're simple, use common sense!

1/6 is less than 1/2, if you think about it.

7/8 is more than 1/3, if you think about it.

Find the lowest common denominator; the one which all the denominators can be divided into without a remainder. Then divide each denominator into that number and multiply the numerator by the result. The new denominator would be the lowest common denominator. For example, 1/4 and 1/2 would become 1/4 and 2/4. And, 3/8 and 1/4 would become 3/8 and 2/8. Then reordering them would be easy.

You need to find the lowest common denominator and then convert all the fractions to have that denominator.

EX: 2/3, 4/5, 5/6. The lowest common denominator is 30 so you would have to write them as 20/30, 24/30, 25/30.

So now it is easy to see which ones are greater or lesser for ordering. After ordering simply reduce back to the original fraction.

put them all over the same denominator,

e.g. 1/3, 5/9, 1/6

put them all over a common denominator. here it could be 18.

1/3 = 6/18, 5/9 = 10/18, 1/6 = 3/18

and then you can order these.

you can find a common denominator by multiplying all the denominators of the fractions but sometimes there are smaller common denominators as above (we could have used 3*9*6 = 162 as denominator)

Get the same number on the denominator:-
Example
Place 5/6 , 7/8, 3/4 in order.
5/6 = 20/24------middle value
7/8 = 21/24------largest value
3/4 = 18/24------smallest value
Hope this example helps.

if all else fails, actually do the division. so if you have 1/4, 2/3, 5/12, and 7/15, you get .25, .66, .412, and .46

so to order those, you have 1/4, 5/12, 7/15, and 2/3

The easiest way(for me) especially when having many fractions, is to convert them to decimals, then order them.
