Age: depends on man to man, their own circumstances, cultures, attitudes, income etc.
need: because once you start getting control over careers, incomes, one feels friends don't meet often, only people we meet or have to meet are through official route, direct or indirect, rarely you make new friends ...a feeling of someone special missing in life, someone whom I can tease, someone who i can make laugh, care for, & be with ...thats the time we feel need tog et married.
In my case: I had propose old fashioned way " will you be mom of my kids"
lots of preparations on each end,...finances, buying new house, planning honeymoon, preparing families, marriage preparations etc, personal grooming.
She is the right girl comes automatically once you get the feeling that the girl is ready to accept you as & what you are.

If any of your friends gets married/parents look for alliances/
you are in love with somebody guys and men seriously think of marriage. You feel that need when you attend several marriage parties. Since you have already started thinking of getting married.
You should be mature enough to accept the other person with all the flaws.Match the horoscopes and you will know the complementing factors then the worldly matters like work/education/caste/beauty etc.all the best

What age do you start thinking of marriage? I probably started "thinking of" marriage when I was 5 or 6 years old. See answers below for when I started "considering" marriage.
why do you feel the need to get married? I never felt a "need" to get married, but I did feel a strong desire to be. I wanted to share my life with someone very special to me and to have a family.
when do you pop the question? I had known her about 6 months when I proposed. She took a long time to answer me, but I understood, because she had been burned by a previous marriage and she wanted time to think.
How do you prepare yourself? I did not prepare myself for marriage. At age 23, I figured I was ready for it. Only after marrying did I realize that I still had some serious growing up to do.
How do you know she is the right girl? She possessed (and still does) shared values, honesty, intellectual curiosity, positive attitude, good with children, responsible, likes to laugh, thrifty but not stingy, respectful of others' feelings, a conscientous employee, literacy, loyalty, loving, sensitive, cooperative, and forgiving. Not necessarily in that order. Everything I wanted in a wife! She's perfect for me.

I can remember wanting to get married some day from a young age, maybe early teenager. I am a bit of a romantic though. I believe there is one perfect person for everyone and that when you find them, it is obvious to you and them. I found my wife shortly before finishing college. I had known her as a friend from my freshman year, but didn't make the romantic connection until later. Popping the question came after I had time to ask her father and when I could surprise her with it at the perfect place. I didn't have to prepare myself, it just came naturally.

Everyone is different, does it different and thinks of it at different times. You are asking a question that can't be answered because you are not understanding the basic issue of being human.
