The modern system uses roman numerals to represent the oxidation state of the metal, so:

SnF2 is tin(II) fluoride, (stannous fluoride is an older but in no way obsolete name)

PbS is lead(II) sulfide (plumbous sulfide - rarely used)

As far as I know SnF2 is a family of proteins.
