First, open the folder containing the files you would like to put on CD.
Next, open My Computer and double-click on the CD drive. (Now would be a good time to put in a blank CD if you haven't already done so.)
Now, switch back to the first window you opened. Choose your file you'd like to send to CD by clicking on it once. While the file is still selected, do a right-mouse click on it and go to Copy and click.
Now, go back to the CD drive window. Right-mouse click anywhere inside the window, (as long as it's on the blank/white part) now click Paste and your CD drive should start writing the file.
If you have more than one file, just keep going back and forth between the windows and Copying and Pasting them into your CD drive window until you're done. Or, until the CD is filled to it's capacity.
Hope I've helped. Please let me know if I can be of more assistance to you.

P.S. Like someone else mentioned, you can also get CD burning software that will do it for you. It's fairly inexpensive and extremely easy to use.

First, you have to have a CD burner in your computer. Not all CD drives are burners. Check the front of the CD drive. It will usually have a little logo that displays CD-R or CD-RW if it is a burner.
Get the files you want to put on the CD together in one directory on your hard drive.
Open a second window through My Computer where you can see the CD drive.
Drag the files you want to put on the disc into the CD drive window. (Remember that you can only put 700mb of files on to a single CD). Windows XP will burn those files to the CD for you when you go to eject the CD. You can also click on the File menu and select Burn Now .
Remember that CD-R disk are for "one time" usage. You burn to them once and then the content can not be changed. So make sure you have a CD worth of stuff before you burn it. Do not waste an entire CD on one small file.

You can use Win XP to do it. Select all the files you want to copy, then open the CDRom and paste on it, making sure that is a blank writable disk in it. Otherwise you can get an application like Nero to do it, it is very easy to use. Hope this helps!
