The problem is there are too many attention deficits in the US. American football has very little action and so many adverts that people don't actually pay that much attention to what's going on. American football only needs your attention maybe once every 20 minutes, so during a game, there is lots of socialising, eating, drinking, doing other things, and watching the adverts. The game is between the adverts, not the other way around. Football (Soccer) is a flowing game which needs constant attention with no time for adverts. As such, it will never get the funding which the NFL does, nor the air time, with the result that nobody will be exposed to it as a professional sport. This is despite it being the biggest sport in America for women and kids. Maybe that's also part of the problem... America is extremely macho, and everything is gay unless its holding a steak. It's a shame... it's a wonderful country otherwise.

I do think so. But I cannot blame them. England players are overrated. They get lucrative salary, date celebs, and are always under the limelight (except some players). They are good, but I cannot see any exceptional players but Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney, when he finds his form and doesn't show his fury. Beckham is a good player, but he is ageing and England oftentimes depend too much on his dead-ball. Comparing to players in other countries, like Brazil (Kaka, Ronaldinho, & co), Argentina (Messi, Saviola, Crespo, Riquelme, & co), and France (Henry, Makalele, & co), they have nothing special. But newspapers and paparazzi make things more complicated by reporting their personal lives.
Perhaps we can see some countries like Germany do not have many exceptional players, but they still managed to achieve good result because of strong determination and characteristic. I don't know why, but somehow England seem do not have these.
Regarding foreign players in Premiership, well, it is a consequence for a country which competition is number one in the world. This happened last decade in Italy when Serie A enjoyed popularity.

I definitely think that the English fans are way too overdemanding of their team. Unless they begin to produce some incredible players, they will never break into the top 5 to 8 teams in the world. They are an average team, without any superstars. English fans are just a nuisance at times.

When you look at the players at our disposal we should at least be challenging for the european championships. Our forwards are a little lightweight in the class department with Owen not the player he was... what I wouldn't give for an Alan Shearer right now! But yes we are too demanding, how many football matches are won in the last 15 minutes now yet we start slaughtering our team if we haven't scored in the first 20 mins!!!

yup bcos the english noes that the epl is one of the best leagues in the entire world n thus have the same expectations with the england football team which has only the english n not ppl of other nationals like in the clubs. clubs like arsenal hav many foreign players n only 1/2 homegrown english players in theo walcott. england last won the world cup in 1966 which is a long time ago the english team is not as great as before.bcos of the goodness of the epl many english ppl have the same regard for the three lions that its supposed to be equally good n win trophies. England shld start investing in young talents. but the kids always learn football in their own position n thus is not flexible to play in other positions like in steven gerrard whose not very himself on the right in liverpool. in this period of time england will just have to wait til they get ready to win something n ppl shld not think england is a great team as its no longer like wat it was in the past. there is also another factor in the gerrard n lampard thing. many says they cant play in the same team but mcclaren is still fielding both of them in today's international friendly with brazil he says it will work. let's hope so! according to statistics although both r gd players lampard is better. Hope it goes well tonight!
