It was originally started as a vocational school by Milton Hershey, of the Hershey's chocolate company fame.
The Milton Hershey School is intended to provide low-income students with exceptional education opportunities. It's a boarding school, which means the students live in group homes on campus while attending school. The admissions process is favored towards candidates in certain counties, although students from other areas in Pennsylvania are also accepted.

All PA Schools are based on the same Teacher Application format. It is ridiculously long and over-detailed. I guess this is how Pennsylvania is able to constantly boast the best public schools and best teachers in the nation.
