I'm an only child - the perfect solution (my Mum and Dad said they got it right first attempt and didn't need to try to improve on me!)

I only have one sibling, an older brother by about 2 years. (I'm 32.) When we were kids and teenagers, we absolutely hated each other. After both of us had moved out of our parents' house, things changed. We're more than brother and sister now. We're friends. And over the years, I realized how much I influenced my brother. A lot of the things he's into and believes in are because of me, not our parents. It's odd for me knowing that my older brother looked up to me when we were younger, instead of the other way around.

If you were younger I would have thought you had middle child syndrome, but at 35? I have 2 younger sisters and 3 younger brothers, we are all very close and I love them dearly, can't imagine not having them around. There is no secret recipe - I suppose its the way you were brought up, we just happen to be all very good friends.

I'm the only surviving child of 4. My three siblings are dead. (two miscarriages and one brother born premature, only lived two days) So for all intents and purposes, I'm an only child.
To answer your questions...
I'm older than my brother.
I never met him, he lived in the hospital for the two days of his life.
Not having any brothers/sisters, here is my idea, in theory.
An ideal older brother... someone who would be a realistic role model for his sisters, and someone who would help with advice given from a male perspective.
An Ideal older sister... similar to the ideal older brother, but from a female perspective, someone a girl could go to and ask questions she wouldn't dream of asking her parents
An ideal younger brother/sister...someone you could play with, or have fun,
Excellent question by the way.

I am the youngest of 5. I have 2 older sisters and 2 older brothers.
My parents died a few years ago and they all look after me, even though I'm now married with kids.
I am so lucky to have them, I don't know how I would have coped if I was an only child.

Am your age I have 2 older brothers and a younger sis, we get along very well because we live in different cities. If there is a moment we need to act together... am the one who is pushing them they know who is the boss. Best suggestion is respect their lifes so they respect yours, if they dont ask for your point of view dont say a word, if they say something you dont like just think you need 2 to fight, so turn arround and they will learn to respect you.

i have an older brother. I used to hate him and argue with him all the time but now out relationship is better. We talk and even hang out at home or out somewhere. I dont think there is such thing as an ideal brother or sister, no one is perfect. Unless you have a wonderful relationship with them and spend time with them i dont think that things would get better between the two of you.
