We have a soap company (though it is dormant right now since we just moved again) we called Rossoaps, because our last name is Ross and it sounds like Raw Soaps, which is what they are.
It could depend on where you are... if you live near mountains, "Mountain Mist" or some kind of that theme... near a beach it could be "Sea Mist Soaps," Tidewater Soap Co.," "Cockle Suds," "Bar Harbor Bars, " etc. Try to think of local attractions that could be incorporated into your name.
You could try NatureSuds, Sudz'n'stuff, Bare Nekked Soaps, etc. Think cute and natural!
Many places it doesn't matter if a name is taken, as long as it is not LOCAL. You might be able to have the same soap company name as one used somewhere else as long as it isn't in your state or county.
Be sure to check local laws in your area... you may need a fictitious name license, an occupational permit (we got the hazmat fee waived since the product, soap, is dissolvable and biodegradable)... a mail-order permit, a sales-tax number (unless you sell over the internet and wholesale to shops only) and in some places (Florida I know at least), if you put the product directly on skin and it is NOT soap, you have to have a cosmetics manufacturers license, which is quite costly and more strictly regulated.
For instance bath salts and fizzies that smell like your soap are ok, but lotion bars, lotions, lip or skin balms, etc are NOT ok in some places. Be cautious because the fines can be steep if you are caught without the proper licenses to sell your stuff!
There are good books out there on the chemical nature of soaps and how to make them that will be helpful to you. There are Yahoogroups on soapmaking which can give you tips too. Best of luck and you can let me know what you name your soap! I would love to know!

RE:
What should I name my soap company?
I make homemade soap (from scratch) I was going to name my company Good Clean Fun, but that was taken, and then I thought Home Grown Soaps, and that was taken. For a really good answer maybe I could send you some soap samples? Thanks!

I'm usually pretty good at coming up with names for small businesses but all I could come up with (for now) is 2:
Heavenly Soaps
Squeaky Clean Soaps
It would help to know what you put in them or any other info that you feel sets your soaps apart from others on the market :)

Paige's Heart Homemade Soap, or use words like 'simple' or 'garden' or 'cottage' (something homey since you thought of 'home grown'), or some adjective that describes your view of yourself or the world. Mine would be "Crazy Cottage". Or if you have a favorite flower or herb. What are you putting in your soap? That could give you direction.

You can call it "Seawind soap". Everyone loves the beach....everyone loves "Seawind soap. It smells so good and fresh. In California the catholic missions up and down the coast of the state , they use to make soap. It was a big bread winner for them. So maybe "Mission" home style soap is good?
