They don't necessarily have to trade Glaus, this season is over but they have him locked up for the 08 season and have an 11.25 Mil club option for the 09 season, so they can sell him for prospects now or next summer, or if they think they will have things sorted out in the next season and a half and really believe they can push to be 2nd in their division, they can hold on to him, but if they find a deal that has too much potential in it ricciardi should pull the trigger on it!

I have no problem with your suggestion that the Blue Jays build for the future. However, on the plus side Glaus can get you 30-40 homeruns and on the down side I don't believe you could get a player of equal value to replace Glaus. I am not opposed to your idea but it would have to be a Multiple player trade, involving others, to make it work. If they were to just dump him they better know for sure they can pick up a better player as a free agent. Not too many American players want to go to Canada.

I agree. Check out the list of next year's free agents. They could get the use of one now and try to sign him for next year. Toronto has a difficult time getting free agents because of economic considerations, but usually is able to keep the players they really want.

Not sure if there's a market for a .250 life time 3rd baseman making $11,000,000 a year. Toronto is stuck with him until he becomes a free agent.
