Go to your county attorney's office. They should have an office for child support services. You'll need to fill out a form and then they will pursue child support from him. It should cost you nothing to do this. You'll need to let them know where he's working so they can garnish his wages. They can also garnish his tax returns for back child support.

The other thing you can do is to go to your Social Services department and ask for whatever assistance is available. They will try to go after him for child support to offset the benefits you'll receive.

A paternity test will be ordered and if he is the father, he will be expected to pay the cost of the test; otherwise, the county will pay. Obviously, if he's not the father, you'll need to figure out who the father is and go after that person for child support.

Be prepared to not get much out of the father if he's the kind of person who changes jobs frequently, works sporatically, or works for cash. However, once there is a child support order by the court and he continually fails to pay, he can be put into jail for several months at a time. Eventually, if the back child support adds up to enough money, the case can be bumped up to the state level and he can be put into prison for a long time.

If you are not married it makes no difference. You need to see an attorney; said attorney can set up a financial support decree for a judge to put in place. Just like child support. This is one of the reasons I tell people it is a good idea to get married before playing hide the pickle; if the father becomes deceased the children get survivor's benefits from social security. If you cannot afford an attorney go to Women's Resource Center and get some legal aid.

I am not sure how things are out of my county in Florida but they make it very easy for you to collect child support. Why people automatically jump to lawyers beats me. Florida all you have to do is go to the Florida Dept of Revenue Website and it has links for paperwork on getting child support. I assume it should be the same everywhere. We pay taxes so they can have state funded agencies like that! I got my child support order 2005 and I wasn't dumb enough to marry my daughters father. No courts cost and they will go retro active. Look into it!!

You do not have to see a lawyer. If you go through the state they will provide one for you.
I had this same problem a few months after my daughter was born. I ended up having to go throught the DHS ( Dept. of Human services) and file for child support.
Because we weren't married, there had to be a paternity test.
The child support is based on his income and it will be garnished from his check every 2 weeks.

I hope this helps. I know it is hard, but eventually you will find someone who will love you and your daughter. It just takes time and patience. One thing I learned was that begging them to see their child or support them doesn't work. It is just a waste of time and breathe. If they want to see them they will; if not, do not worry about it.
When your daughter is older she will be able to judge for herself what kind of father he has been to her.

He is legally responsible to support his child, whether you are married or not. You need legal help. Call Legal Aid in your area, explain your problem, and ask for help. If you can't afford to pay a lawyer, they will help you for free. Good luck!

Make him pay child support, take his a** to court and get the court to agree that he has to pay child support. Then after that happens if he doesn't start paying go to supportkids.com and they will help you get the money.

Have you tried talking to him about this? I guess if you did the next possible thing for you is to seek legal advise regarding this matter.
