The Pc:
80GB HDD, 50% free
256 MB RAM
2.4 GHZ Intel Processor
845 GVSR Motherboard
LG combo drive

I have tried various player softwares like powerdvd, real player etc but the movie is played like a slide show of pictures. No background softwares working while playing dvd. It plays vcds very well. cleaned the dvd.

How to set it Right, Any Ideas?

Maybe your video card cannot handle the DVD videos.

Upgrade your video card. If your using a desktop computer you can buy VGA card and put it into your motherboard

But first refer to a professional before you add a hardware to your computer to prevent unwanted result.

Your problem could be due to your slow integrated graphics that shares from system RAM. Try increasing RAM to at least 512Mb and use 16bit color mode instead of 32bit. To change color quality, right click on desktop, click properties then settings.

Might be a matter fo your graphics card. Check the drivers. You may also want more ram. I would suggest an upgrade to a minimum of 512MB
