anyone think of pythagoras, the pre-socratic philosopher whom is considered by many to be the world's first pure mathematician ? he was around before archemides. btw, this is not an attempt to subtract from the genius of archemides.

The Greek Archimedes was the father of mathematics who lived from 287-212 BC in Syracuse.

Pythagorus is considered to be the father of mathematics. c2= b2+a2 having to do with the sides of the triangle.

Actually, it was nobody. There were contributors to math, but nobody ever created it.
