I think that it is very harsh and rude.Just because Americans haven't got a past history dosen't mean they can insult other countries cultures. being persian, I think it's a very big insult. we are not like that, we have a brilliant history of sasanians and others too.I think we have been very badly predjuiced and that is not fair. I really don't like it when people insult my race.

In the movie it's revealed that what we have seen is a story being told by one of the survivors. Embellishment is the key to any story. If there are elephants, they are giant elephants; Xerxes is 10 feet tall, etc. You make your enemy seem as fearsome as possible to make yourself seem as heroic as possible.
Also, the contemporary source material (of both the graphic novel and the movie) is considered, from an archeological/cultural point of view, highly inaccurate. The biggest influence of the graphic novel was a 1950s movie (never known for complete accuracy). There is no known, accurate account of that battle. The book of Esther in the Bible is considered a better source of material regarding Xerxes and Persian courtly life than anything written at the time by a Greek. All of this is something most Americans probably don't know. Most Americans don't make a connection between Persia and modern Iran, they don't know that there is a difference between Arabs and Persians.

The film 300 is loosely based a very famous Greek victory over the Persians. It has been historically and accurately document by many scholars.
To get insulted by facts is nonsense. The battle is actually studied even today in many military academies around the world because it highlights how a well disciplined, well trained, lightly armed force with the correct defensive fortifications and terrain can defeat numerically and immensely superior odds.
Even though the Spartans were defeated and wiped out they inspired the Greek kingdoms to finally unite and defeat the invading Persian army. Is the insult because it drags up another defeat or you are just not aware of actual documented facts? I bet there are not many Greeks who would regard this film as an insult!
I will give you this, Hollywood has glamorised it but they have not altered the facts. By the way the film was originally made in the late sixties and was called 300 Spartans.

How is that movie insulting your race?
First, it is a very stylized bit of historical fiction -- i.e. based on actual events, but otherwise all the details are fictional.
Second, the story took place in Persia almost 2,500 years ago. How is that a reflection on modern-day Iranians? Do you ride around on Elephants with spears and tons of body piercings?
Much less, why is it just Iranians in your eyes? Why is it not Egyptians, or Sudanese? That would be like someone watching 'The 13th Warrior' and saying, "I think Hollywood is portraying my race as a bunch of dumb blood-thirsty brutes, because my dad is from Norway."
I don't get it. If it was a film about the Moors invading Spain in the 700s, and some band of Spanish warriors were the protagonists, would you say that the movie was insulting to African Americans? Because, that's exactly what you're saying.

Frankly speaking, you need to calm down. To begin with, the film is neither insulting nor abusive to ANYONE. It is merely a reproduction of the Battle of Thermopylae, which has gone down in the history books as one of the mightiest examples of courage and grit, as shown by the Spartans.
The film, 300, is an adaptation of Frank Miller's graphic novel. The only fictionized portion of the film is the mythical creatures you see during the battle scenes. The rest actually took place.
You, being an Iranian, drew the short end of the straw with this flick as Greeks are glorified. And they have every reason to be. They won the war that ensued. If you're looking for a form of media that feeds your patriotic pride well...check out any of the Prince of Persia titles.
Don't blame the Americans man and seriously, don't take anything Hollywood does personally.

Its a movie, if you dont like it then avoid it. Black people have been and still are caricatured by may theaters but that doesnt means life ends here. In life there are people who choose to spend their time degrading others but that is a personal choice. I dont think all Americans are insulting Iranians neither Greeks, so just live girl. I supposed there are most important things in life rather than being tested by this kind of movie. Get over it. The west had made a lot of wars in this world(in general) but 80% of the western people are against these acts and living with them you would see that those who have power are abusing it to bull others. That's life!!
peace out

The movie 300 didn't insult iranians. It gave a somewhat historically accurate describtion of them. Yes, the Persians had a large empire. But, they ruled it and conquered using brute force and ruthless brutality. And if anything they didn't portray the Acadians correctly. They, show them as a group of weak mercenaries. They, were mercenaries; but they were also great strategist's. So you really don't have a correct interpretation of the movie. You've been given false propaganda against the US and all western things.

Personally I could not care. There are plenty of films which take the piss out of English poeple, but you do not see us gettimg upset and wanting to call downs Gods wrath on them, and kill then in the name of the Lord.
Get over it mate! Just enjoy the story, which is fact and an actual historical event, so why get up-set?
There are loads of films showing how stupid Americans are. We all just agree and laugh. You should too.

Thats history...unless you can change it don't get so upset when someone portrays it in a movie...and don't think just because it was in movie that its prejudice...how about the people who live there lives everyday, some all or most of their life they had to live in fear of prejudice...wondering if someone was going to come up behind them and beat the hell out of them because they were black and the person doing it was a bigit...honey...if all you want to worry about is how your people were in a movie don't comlain so much...there are other things in this world that are worse than a movie that you think bash your people...its pure entertainment...not a film telling everyone else in the world to hate you...
last time i checked this movie was rated R...if your 14 than you you shouldn't have snuck in it to see it...assuming you have seen it...they have ratings not to control content in a movie but because you should mature enough to watch it...
quit the bs...find out what real prejudice is...you feel it from a movie...please...grow up...flat out...get off your high horse like your trying to act intelligent...its a movie...
