When my kids still wore bibs, I'd just flip the bib up over my shoulder to catch any potential spit-ups.

I wouldn't. After all, bibs are made to catch the messes and babies spit up quit a bit during burping. Just flip it over your shoulder and have a cloth ready for really big spit ups.

When my daugther was 0-6months I didnt use bibs I used soft cloths for breast feeding as they were gentle agaisnt me and her. I left them agaisnt her chin or draped them down my back when burping her so that they would catch any sick and not the suite or my clothes. However I no longer burp her but I take her bibs of after I've washed her face and hands now.

No...I lift it so it drapes over my shoulder this way if he pukes up anything then it will not go on me but on the bib...also means you do not need burp cloths.

No, use the bib to catch any sick.
Just be sure that the bib doesn't tighten around the babys neck.

personally i wouldn't because if they are sick while burping it will go all over then where as if you have a bib on it would protect their clothes

You can do it either way. But, if you leave the bib on, it will help catch any spit-up.
