I wrecked my car and my airbag didnt deflat and everyone says it should have due to my speed and the direction of my hit. If it is possible to sue, what are the speed requirements before an airbag deflates?

its a new car not even a year old, and i didnt have any signs that said my air bag didnt work. Its not that i want to sue b/c i want to... its because if the airbag deflated i would have had a lot less injuries

Why are Americans obsessed with suing for everything?

first you have to know that it was a defect in the car. it could be that because of the position of the crash or when the other vehicle actually hit you didn't trigger any of the air bag sensors. car manufactures install them at certain points on the car and there are times when the crash isn't forceful enough to trigger on or more of them.
but i would check with the company and see if they have had any other reports of the air bags not deploying properly and go from there
you could try to talk to a lawyer, but since you caused the accident they may only help you on the AB (accident benefit) side of the claim if your insurance company isn't willing to compensate you for your injuries

Yes, you can sue, but you need to make sure you know why the air bag didn't inflate (deflate?).

Your best bet is to try to find an attorney who will handle your case on a contingent fee basis (if you can't find one willing to work for a contingent fee, the lawyers are telling you that your case is too weak to pursue).

BTW, if you do get a lawyer who agrees to a contingent fee, try to get him to include the costs and expenses that are no normally covered by the contingent fee agreement. These costs can really add up and you have to pay them no matter what the outcome of the case is.

Fist of all, you probably have no legal grounds to sue. IF you take it in to be tested by the manufacturer, and they find a fault in one of the crash sensors, you may have some legal grounds for compensation. Regardless however, this sense of entitlement is silly. If nobody died or has permanent, life changing injuries, please just move on!

People have been known to sue for anything and everything. Your insurance company should compensate you and then deal with the auto maker.

If you have real damages and your insurance won't cover you then you have a right to sue and should change insurance companies.

Nope, who wrecked your car? You or the manafacture. You have to hit an airbag sensor for it to deploy and they are not every millimeter apart.. Location of damage.

I think you mean "inflate".

Never mind suing ....... just be thankful you weren't hurt. Those air bags can be pretty dangerous all by themselves.
