Does anyone else think the TB Man situation sounds kind of fishy? Or should I say selfish. This guy should do time. His now father in law works at the TB section of the CDC, so he knows what kind of TB he has, then he treks all over Europe spreading the disease so he can fullfill his now wifes perfect honeymoon dream? Then it seems he tries to sneak back into the US through Canada - all the while possibly contaminating thousands on his journey. But then again did I hear the guy is a lawyer. Your thoughts?

I am with you he was very selfish, reckless with other peoples lives... I think he should be brought up on charges.... I am very disappointed in how the CDC handled his case.....

I think all the facts are not there. He didn't know what kind of TB he had when he went to Europe. He has a tape recording of the Health officals telling him he could go. He was scared and wanted to get home. Europe doesn't have a good health system. He is not a doctor. He did what he could to get home to good medical care. I feel for him and his family. No one has turned up positive for TB until then, lay off of him. Not all lawyers are bad!!!

Not only is a lawyer, he is a personal injury lawyer. Definitely sounds fishy. The newest reports say he didn't know it was the XDR TB when he left for Europe, but when they tracked him down in Europe and told him it was and not to travel until they figured out what to do, he still traveled anyway...and he did it in a sneaky manner by flying into Canada and driving into the country because they blacklisted him so he couldn't fly into the US.

I think he was extremely selfish. If I knew I had TB - I would not be traveling around. I understand that he wanted to be treated in the US - so he should have stayed here and gotten treated. His honeymoon or whatever could've waited. But since he is a lawyer nothing will probably happen to him. If it was some poor person , they would have been in a prison infirmary already.

Very very selfish. He knew exactly what he was doing and still chose to pursue his own happiness above others. And I'm sorry, I believe his FIL should be fired from his job as well. He knew how dangerous this strain was more than anyone and still attended the wedding and knew of their travel plans???!!! I know they are trying to track down everyone on the planes, but what about whoever sat next to him in the airports or the cleaning lady for their hotel rooms...he came in contact with so many others. Very selfish and very very sad.

He is a lawyer. He is selfish. He's a lawyer!

I think this man should be punished, after the he is rid of the disease... if he doesn't rid the disease... then that should be punishment enough. But hes on constant guard, and should not escape.

Total Conspiracy. Too many things that make no logical sense along with the CDC & Health Department covering their a**es!

europe doesnt have a good health system?...and you know first hand of course how bad it is, its not hard to contain tb to be fair, advised not to travel.......so then dont travel.....if u were advised to look both ways when crossing street would u just look one way then sue if you got run over?, providing you lived of course.

he should be banned from leaving the u.s. indefinately and i hope the airlines and italian and canadian governments sue him, oh and the czech government, he knew what he was letting himself in for, he didnt have a sign over him saying 'i have tb so keep clear'.

smart people have no common sense.

I was listening to the news and they interviewed him and he said that the US doctors did not tell him not to travel and so he went on his honeymoon. The reason he came back even though he wasn't supposed to was because he wanted to be back in the US. He apologized to all the people that were on the plane and is getting treatment.
