Reduce, or preferably STOP, using fossil fuels. We can't stop global warming but we do need to stop using fossil fuels for lots of reasons like stopping dependence on foreign oil, reducing smog, and reducing acid rains.

Its not a trick question, those that suggest the question is the wrong way round clearly do not understand the earths climate history and natural climate effects. We know that as water warms it looses its ability to hold co2, thus as the sea warms it releases more co2 (question is what caused the warming - many think the sun). Thats why co2 levels always rise FOLLOWING warming historically, and hence doesnt not drive natural climate. Even the IPCC state that co2 follows warming and does not cause warming historically. During the coldest time in the last 500,000,000 years co2 was substantially higher than today at around 4500ppm (12x greater), it obviously caused no warming at much higher rates than today. Also as the sea warms, more water vapour is released into the atmosphere, this is the main greenhouse gas and forms 95% of the greenhouse layer and most of the greenhouse effect, where as co2 forms only 0.054%. This is again a natural effect caused by warming, some consider it a co2 feedback (that way it can be atributed to man) but thats an unjustified assumption and current warming suggests a low climate sensitivity i.e. there are no co2 feedbacks. Numerous peer reviewed papers have recently been published on this subject. As it has been consistantly warming at a constant rate since the Maunder Minimum (long before manmade co2 could of had any impact) it could explain the rising co2 this centuary. We know most the rise has been natural as only 3% is human caused based on c12/c13 isotope analysis. This shows that natural climate processes still have a strong impact on our current climate and man has little effect. Warming has also been suggested to cause increased surface erosion and thus more co2 is released from land. Changes in plant cover also will effect greenhouse emissions. Our position in the milky way, solar orbit and tilt, surface albedo, tectonic plate movement, volcanic activity, solar activity are all natural climate drivers that can cause warming and hence can cause the release of greenhouse gasses.

The only way I know how to reduce carbon emmisions and the effects of greehouse gases causing climate change and possibility of global warming is in two dynamic ways........
On an individual basis, each and every person must change their living conditions around by doing small improvements like not using plastic bags and substituting other materials, changing to flourescent lighting, doing away with trash bins and recycling to the max, using vehicles and other engine driven machines as little and as efficiently as possible....and utilizing solar energy whereever applicable, especially capturing it's benefits during cold days.
On a corporate level.....all known corporate polluters need to be fined SEVERELY when caught.
In the past, fines were limited so they continue doing their deeds which makes the environment poisoned and have caused many cancers you may be hearing about today.
These abusers need to be rounded up, fined so much so that they may even go out of business...utilizing these billion dollar fines to lower the national debt and give relief to taxpayers...and those companies engaged in pesticide use and environment contamination need to cease and decist, stopping them and their smelly big trucks in their tracks...and
.....finally....rewarding those corporations that will or have been involved with environment cleanup or will provide much needed other sources to substitute the diminishing energy resourses
....rewarding them through tax incentives and other stimuli.
A good and viable presidential candidate will roll up their sleeves and do all of above, and any candidate in the process of trying to get my vote will be much appreciated by everyone in the world.
That is how important this issue is to everyone today!

There is nothing we can do. People always ask, but, until they decide to really do something, nothing will happen.
I sold my car and bought a Bicycle. How many people will do that?
Write the Government and tell them we want the Coal Plants for electricity shut down. We will do without electricity or cut down our usage. How many people will do that?
Write the Companies that have Factories that cause Greenhouse effects. Tell them we as consumers are willing to pay higher prices for them to convert their factories to a more environment friendly factory. Now really, how many people will do that?
So, there is nothing we can do, but, ask what we can do and then do nothing and keep doing as we do.

We can reduce the greenhouse effect by switching lightbulbs from compact to fluraresent bulbs because not only do they reduce emissions, but save you money.

Reduce dependency on fossil fuels. Conserve energy. Develop alternative energy sources. Build energy efficient buildings. Drive energy efficient cars. Live closer to work, or telework from a computer at home. Turn televisions, appliances, ceiling fans and lights off when not in use.

Tell all those nasty volcanos to stop spewing gases, also stop the lightning storms from setting forest fires... and get all the bovines (cows) on the planet to stop farting. You could also get the sun to shine less brightly. That will account for about 90% of it all. If you want more, ask the Chinese to stop using 1920's coal-burning technology for power generation.
Anything else is just wishful thinking.

Tell environmental whack jobs to quit breathing.
"greenhouse" effect is what gives this planet life. Without we'd be as barren as Mars or Mercury.

man can do any thing......we can do by taking initiatives to reduce the generation of greeen house gases......by planting more trees...deforestation....reducing use of vehical for small distances.......etc.
