If I was very ill no because I wouldn't enjoy the trip and I would be a cause of worry for others making the trip less enjoyable for them. However, if it was something where I could maybe take some medicine and then feel better why not take the trip and not let something small like a stomach ache ruin it.

OK I'm getting on in years. Taking a trip sounds like a good way to stop feeling ill. You can fly, man. Wake up next morning and you don't remember a thing.
Taking a trip is fine, as long as you know where it's coming from and you've got friends around you in case it goes pear shaped. By the way, it's illegal.

In short, yes.

Your question makes me think of the time I was called to university to take an interview for a course there. In the car on the way to the station, I got a sudden, sharp pain on the left side of my belly, and it was pretty intense, I was almost crying. The train was there, ready to go, and I was really considering going back home and giving it a miss... but I went anyway, all the way on the train (about three hours) and to my lodgings in the university town it hurt like hell, but then it gradually eased off.

I was lucky really, if it had been anything really serious I probably wouldn't have been able to take the interview the next day, maybe even would have had to go to hospital... later on I did go, but they never discovered what had been causing the pain. Still worries me a little, actually...

depends on the trip and how ill - I have had a bad cold the last few days but have a hen weekend this weekend - I won't miss it for anything but have been off work today ill! Cheeky I know..
If I was really ill though I would cancel as I wouldn't have a good time and it would be pointless.

Well depending on how you are traveling . Of coarse you want to be comfortable. If you are running a fever you are contageous so you wouldnt want to be around others out of fear of passing what you have to them. It sounds like your looking for someone to give you permission not to go. If its someone else that is sick and wanting to cancel a trip it all depends on that person only they know how they feel. Most of the time we dont get time out to take trips so I would probably go and make sure that I have the proper medications to keep me feeling up to par

It has happened to me in the past, and I cancelled my trip. It greatly disappointed one of my friends, but there was nothing I could do. Once it was diagnosed, it turned out what I had could have been contagious. Since I would have been traveling in France on a bus, it makes me shiver to think how many people I could have made sick if I didn't have the courage to cancel.

12-year-old McKayla Geisinger fell ill while on a school trip to NH's White Mountains in March. Just a few moments later, she died.

But I would.

It depends on how ill i was feeling. If i couldnt stand up or walk, then i simply wouldnt go. You run the risk of worsening your illness.
