I'm not a republican, but I do believe that those who deny the human factor in global warming are doing so because their minds cannot comprehend the catastrophic nature of this situation looming in our future.
I also believe these people have not mastered the scientific method or the principles upon which science works. Otherwise, they would have understood the threat of greenhouse gases long ago.
I remember discussing this in freshman science class in the 70's. I was only 13 and I could comprehend the logic. It's pretty simple stuff, and I can't believe the GOPpers are that thick. I really believe they are just in shock and denial.

I feel much better. First Uncle Al invents the internet and then he explains the climate to us....
Did the esteemed Senator notice that the glaciers have shrunk many, many times in the past? and that warm periods and ice ages come and go...? Sorry folks, but that's the climate biz...... Did you think that things were going to always stay the same? It's a comforting fiction to think that we can all do something about it, if we only just all pull together and follow the direction of a popular politician. Unforturnately.... nature may not be a Democrat.

I am a Republican and I do not feel foolish at all. I don't think anything has been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. There are just as many scientists saying that we are still coming out of an ice age and that it is a natural progression for the earth to get warmer as there are people crying GW.
The earth itself emits more things on it's own that harm the ozone and atmosphere. I am not saying that we should not try harder to treat our planet with respect. We should cut down; we should do our part but do I think we are going to reverse anything? No.
As for Al Gore, Don't get me started. Everybody said how boring he was during the election and now all of the sudden he is the world's scientific authority. Puuhleeeeze!

All I have seen is "effect". The "cause" has been nothing short of speculation. I keep an open mind on this matter. Yes, I think we should clean our enviroment and keep it clean, however, the "global warming" craze has not shown me one piece of "fact" at this time. On the flip side, the "anti-global warming" fanatics seem to be able to provide more "facts" to disprove global warming then their opponent have to prove it.
ps. I'm an independent. I do not respect both parties equally.

There have been very little scientific facts released. Even prestigious scientific magazine panels have suppressed opposition views. Certainly there is room for serious scientific debate. But waving a political flag will not enlighten anyone. Hitler and Stalin suppressed scientific views (that they as politicians found inconvenient). Gore has amply brought the subject to the fore and should be promoting serious debate not concluding that debate is inconvenient. Your post should be welcomed under 'politics' rather than under science where 'facts' are rarely swallowed merely because the are popular. The US economy supports many worthy efforts throughout the world. Destroying our economy (by shipping most of our jobs to China and India to avoid US produced CO2) will not save the planet. When you are unemployed because of a US depression, I expect you to be first in line demanding why we were hoodwinked. The US is reducing CO2 emissions through research and advancing technology and not through empty rhetoric. Of course you are welcome to use free speech to state your political views; but nothing is really free. Free speech is paid for and protected by a strong responsible economy.

Many scientists do not support this theory. Global temperatures are historically variable. And BTW, where is "other world"located? You will also recall in the late 70's scientists were sure we were heading into another ice age. What happened with that? Now THAT's an inconvenient truth!

You cannot prove anything in science. Every course in science I've ever taken covers that point in the first week. And you certainly can't prove a scientific hypothesis with a movie.
By the way would you like to invest in my pyramid scheme?

i'd have to agree with the question of "since when did gore become the scientific authority on global warming"?
i guess he automatically became that guy when he invented the internet.

As a Libertarian I think everyone just needs to read a damn paper on paleoclimate and realize that this is a natural cycle. Yeah, its going to cause us problems in the future but we can't stop it so instead of arguing we need to find ways to deal with rising oceans, loss of land, agricultural shifts, polluted water, and tropical disease.
