that all depends on what kind of tortoise you have!!
if you have a red foor tortoise: dark leafy greens, veggies, some fruit and a little bit of protein--avoiding broccoli, cauliflower, and brussel sprouts. protein matter should be earth worms, meal worms, superworms and crickets...these guys are fed 2-3 times a week with 2 meals having vitamin and calicium powder mixed in!!
if you have a russian tort: HIGH fiber-LOW protein and HIGH Calcium!!! hardly any fruit at all--too much suga=digestive problems..Avoid high protein foods it can cause renal failure!! grasses, clovers, hibisscus leaves and flowers, alfalfa and other grass hays, water cress, dandelion, rose leaves and petals, sow thistle, romaine lettuce, red leaf lettuce, endive, escarole, kale, cactus pods can be fed..if feeding outdoor make sure it is washed well....actually avoid picking stuff from out doors.
if its a sulcatta: high fiber and low protein !! Mixed grasses, orchard hay, timothy hay, optunia pads and berries, hibiscus leaves and flowers, clove, prickly pear pads, dandelion greens and flower, Dutch clover, rose leaves and petals, sow thistle, romaine, and red leaf lettuce. You can also give mulberry leaves and grape leaves in limited quantities. Animal protein should be avoided!!!Fruits should be fed sparingly if at all.
hingeback tort:
crickets, earthworms, crickets, snails, zoophobas, mealworms, COOKED chicken or liver, commercial turtle food, primate biscuits, small amounts of good quality wet dog food like innova or eaglepack. bananas, tomatoes, peaches, mushrooms, lettuce, melon, sliced oranges, zucchini, red/green sweet pepper and a small amount of papaya. vitamin supp every week. and keep a cuttle bone in with them for calcium and beak trimming purposes.
greek tort:
high fiber, low protein and calcium rich diet!! Dark leafy greens like kale, dandelion, mustard, collard and turnip greens should be fed regularly. timothy, orchard, and alfafa hays can also be provided. high protein anything and wet foods should be avoided, theyll cause renal failure!. Fruits can be given sparingly since too many fruits will result in diarrhea and other health issues. If calcium supplementation is required try to use pure calcium carbonate. also adding a cuttle bone is good too!! fresh water should be offered at all times in a shallow dish. Your tortoise will also LOVE a 10-minute soak in a shallow bath water to ensure proper hydration.
and if you have a leopard tort:
high fiber diet and should consist of 70% - 75% of grasses and hay. Use timothy, alfalfa, orchard grass, etc. to provide variety. Large amounts of lettuces and fruits should not be provided, though occasional small amounts are OK. fruits of the prickly pears are fun and can be found in most petstores meat and high protein items avoid at all costs!. Calcium and vitamin D3 supps should be given 2-3 times a week but do not over dose!!
its hard to say the exact diet of what you have...if you need help finding out what kind you have and what it needs ( uvb bulbs, heat, water, area..etc) email me at kris57_114@yahoo.com

Let's see:
Any healthy fruit or vegetable that is not too sweet or sour...something chewable, not like carrots. You can also give SOME supplements IN MODERATION-supplements are just to enhance diet, and are not a main diet. Also, anything that is very healthy and chewable for something without teeth. I mean things that are sugar-free and not too fat, like applesauce, stuff like that.

I have a box turtle and I got food for him at the local pet store. He also eats leftovers from vegatables and fruits. He goes wild over worms and grubs also! I get nightcrawlers like you would for fishing and he goes wild for them!

No offense, but if you don't know what to feed a pet tortoise, maybe you shouldn't have one.

I think they like romaine lettuce, carrots and strawberries. Look in your local pet store to see if they have any supplements.

My tortoise is addicted to baby corn! And also, tomatoes they seem to like. Give them mainly lettuce- its full of water, and other nutrients.

They really like vegtables. Like lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, maybe tomatos. You know just stuff like that. even some fruit like apples, bananas and all that stuff.
