My car has been in the shop for 3 months over a timing belt and bent valves. the mechanic was told to fix the car up right away and we would pay as soon as it was done...last week he told me the car would be done by wednesday, on wed. my dad stopped at the shop and he said later on that afternoon. So Wednesday afternoon I went to see about the car and the owner says that he never said it would be ready by wednesday and it may take longer, because it needs a new motor. Also i asked a while back about taking care somewhere but the owner tells me that the storage fee would be about $20/ a day... what can i do this is really frustrating it shouldn't have taken 3 months its a 96 honda accord

Call the district attorney. This sounds like fraud.

I would suggest exhausting all the option provided in the previous answers. File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Contact a lawyer to pursue legal action, and then, if the shop is acting like this, write up a detailed escription of what has gone on, do not exagerate the truth, just state what has happened, and send a copy to the local newspaper, and to every local news channel.

Better Business Bureau

But before you do, why dont you go have a sit down with your dad and him and get to the bottom of what he said.

If he told you one thing and your dad another that is wrong on him,
if it was an employee guessing, then the shop owner would have to bring him in also.

The Better Business Bureau is a good place to start. I would also put a complaint in with your local Licencing Dept.

Contact a lawyer, and have him (or her) call the shop owner.
