Most MySpace websites have plently of avatars which are generally free. Try www.pimp-your-profile.com. Alternatively resize your own images in photoshop or ms paint.

I came across www.meez.com via Photobucket. You can sign-up for free and build your own avatar. They are even animated!!! Lots of fun. Check it out!!!
