I'm a 40 yr old Indian woman. I tried shaving my pubic hair, but it left a stubble. I used 'veet' hair removing creme, it gave me small boils, which r painful & itchy. How can I clean myself effectively & safely? Which brand of razor will suit me best? I have stubborn & thick growth. If I shave in the opposite direction of hair growth, the shave is very clean, but that too, leaves me with boils. Please help.

If this is your first time to do a bikini line shaving, then the best way to shave the pubic hair is to begin by trimming your hair as closely as you can, to make removal easier. Ensure that the hair is just washed, so that it is tangle free and easy to trim. Use a small scissors, and cut the hair as short as you can.

Be sure to use products designed for sensitive skin – any rashes or rawness will hurt infinitely more down here than on a leg or underarm. Take your time, and with slow careful motions, shave your hair in the direction that it grows. Doing otherwise could result in painful in-growing hairs. Continue until all hair is removed, and then step back and look at your handiwork!

Aftercare

When the shaving is done, you can continue to take care of the area by applying some moisturizer specially made for this part of your body – don’t use a facial or body lotion, as this might aggravate the tender area. Be sure to use underwear made from natural fibbers, to allow the area to breathe. Treat your bikini line with respect, and this won’t be your last pubic hair shave!

I suffer from course thick pubic hair and I have yet to achieve the smooth appearance after hair removal. When the hair is like this you have to shave against it because it will be pointless to try to go with the hair. Have you tried an ointment after you shave? Something like A&D that might help the aggravated skin. I try to always put lotion on after I shave and it helps some. Waxing did help me, of course it is painful and with hair that thick it takes so many times of going back over it that you say ok, forget it! But if you can wax a good amount of it out than you can shave the thinner regrowth much easier. Good luck. I would definitely look into the laser removal if you can afford it.

Laser Hair Removal. A little bit expensive, but permanent. See a Dermatologist.

You have pubic for a reason, but if you MUST remove it, I'd go to a professional and have it waxed.

Either wax it or shave it frequently. It won't grow back ten times worse. Just a myth.
