hey i work out of a small office, and i am having trouble setting up my vonage phone. I called the number for assistance and no one there speaks english and was of no help. There are several things hooked up to the router and the modem also has a few phone lines hooked up to it. Can anyone help?

Well Vonage works stricly off the internet.

I have mine hooked up behind the router just like anyother computer would connect. Modem (either DSL or Cable etc) to router, router to vonage. All phones connect to the vonage plug. It should just work at that point once you activate the account.

You can connect the Vonage adapter directly to the Modem and then connect the router to the Vonage unit..either way should work.

Your existing phone wiring is generally the confusing part. I disconnected mine at the "demark" and ran a phone line cable from the vonage unit to the line I disconnected thus making the vonage connection available at all the telephone jacks in the house. There are other ways to do this however.

If you are using DSL you have to keep the DSL line active.

Ok I had this same problem for a lil while...this is what you have to do..

Unhook the power supply to the router
Plug in the ethernet cable from the vonage device to the router
hook up router
plug in vonage device
plug in phones
listen for dial tone..

this worked for me ..seems a little confusing if you have alot of wires but is quite simple

Vonage SUCKS!!!!

The only time I could get anybody to talk to was 2 months after I changed back to my local cable/internet/phone service as my telephone provider. And then they wouldn't quit calling me at all hours. Really got annoying until I snapped and cussed out someone and told them never to call me again or I was reporting them (don't really know who I would report to, but it got them to leave me alone). Also When I had their service, half the time my phone wouldn't work, or people couldn't call me, they would just get some weird message that didn't make sense.

My only suggestion is to find a better company!
