You might want to revisit that "lived in peace" part. There was no shortage of wars, ranging from the conquests by the Egyptians, Phoenicians, Persians, Macedonians, Greeks, Romans, Gauls, and Goths to the several violent changes of dynasties in China. Also count in the various warlike civilizations in Central and South America along with the constant warring of tribes in North America.
Then stir in the whole Islam thing spread at the point of a sword and it doesn't look like peace every really existed.

The question referred to "civilizations" not "outdated racial terms" like occidental and oriental. Occidental is an ethnic term - not a term referring to a "civilization." Roman civilization was a civilization -- so was Greek and Macedonian -- so was Persian -- Pashtun -- whatever.
