im not even going to get started on this. i think that (if they are actually gay - not experimenting, being fake or rebellious) they are BORN GAY. why would someone choose a life of seclusion and secret in some cases or open ridicule and being denied their rights? im christian but i think gay marriage should be legal.i think humans are more mentally advanced so our sexual behaviors are not the same obviously.. the crap in the bible about it being a sin (god didnt write the "word" men did..) ..in my eyes god doesnt make mistakes, we just dont understand his ways all the time. but if it were true - i dont think i could serve a god that condemns his own creation for something so involuntary....

I challenge any hetero that believes it's a choice to reveal the age at which age they made their "choice" to be straight.
The only choice any of us has is to either be who we are or be who others want us to be.

No. There was a study in the late 1990's that dispute the claim of the "homosexual genetic marker". I read about it yesterday.
I find it interesting the basis of the 1st study was conducted in the early 90's to prove that homosexuality was indeed biological, was a genetic marker discovered in some sort of fly, that when engineered into the species, caused an increase in homosexual activity among male flys. further when the test was applied to the human study the natural occuring marker among a group of guys the study reported that 80% were apt to seek out homosexual behavior.
A followup study determined the actual percentage was closer to 40% and therefore relegating homosexual behavior as more choice than biological design.
I am a Christian, I believe in the biblical account of creation, I believe in both the old and new testament prohibitions regarding homosexuality. that's my story and I stickin to it.
God bless al 4 now B

They are born gay, and the ones that I know are very proud of it and you are right God wouldn't make something that he would condemn, so do NOT listen to all of these bible thumpers that have forgotten a very important part of the bible that tells them: JUDGE LEAST THEE BE JUDGED. They thing that just because they grace the steps of the church every time the doors open that makes them better than everybody else well here's my message to them--NOT. I am glad that you see things the same way that I do as all of these stuck up bible thumpers need to get a grip on reality and PRAY for God to give them acceptance of others and understanding that everybody is different and being different from them is perfectly okay.

I think it's both. Gays I've spoken to say that some men are 'born women' and vise versa. Then, there are people who become so disguisted and sickend by their own failed relationships with their opposite sex, that they just gravitate towards their own sex.
I believe that homosexuality is a natural occurance in both the human and animal species. Doesn't it make sense that if a population becomes overcrowed that nature would have an 'escape route' to contain the population? Perhaps crowded conditions trigger a latent gene that causes a certain percentage of individuals to change sides, thereby eliminating the potential for biological off spring.
Interesting thought. The plains Indians used to treat gays as Holy because they encompassed BOTH sexes and therefore were seen a complete and saintly people.

i absolutly hate it when people say gays choose to be gay and it's a choice. that just makes me want to knock out someone becuase they don't know crap.
People are born gay it's not a choice.
It is a choice however to act out on your sexual desires. But why should this not be allowed. Why shouldn't we be happy and find love like straight people.
I admire the fact that you are christian and aren't some basher that hates everyone. Hard to find nice open minded christians these days that knows the truth.

I believe that they are driven by the flesh and not born that way. God wouldn't make one male be born gay and the other male straight. People want to make excuses for themselves.

A scenario; A group of practicing hetrosexual people of the same sex are shipwrecked .After a few years some of them feel comfertable having homo sex/r ships...........Similar stories are played out in prisons the world over ,every day . The "born to be gay" theory may cut the mustard with some ,but definately not all ,it's very debatable.

what diffrence does it make ,no body has the right to judge anyone, i doubt that gays who have grown up in a gay family onedays says "yep it's time for me to be gay because everyone else is" i like men... its nice...
and about religion i'm christian too, so what about the church they shouldnt be judging anyone because they would be a church now would they.... I doubt that if Christ found out you were gay he would say " BE GONE TO THE FIRES OF HELL"
lol ,bye

Some of your answerers seem to be confusing natural, inborn sexual orientation with sexual BEHAVIOR. Just because someone has man-to-man sex in a prison, or from a shipwreck, doesn't make them gay, unless they were born that way.
No one chooses to be LGBT or the be straight, or to be gree-eyed, or left-handed. These are among the natural human variations.
God doesn't make mistakes. God chooses each of us for the life we were meant to lead.

I think it´s both. It is entirely possible for one to be born preferring a gender. It´s also possible to explore one´s sexual self and decide on a gender as a conscious choice. Sometimes, sexual abuse plays a role in one´s choosing a sexual orientation. I know that now, I am deeply in love with my husband and I prefer men, but I have had brief relationships (years ago) with women. I am heterosexual because I choose to be and will remain faithful to him forever. But that doesn´t mean that I couldn´t ever have another homosexual relationship if circumstances were different. Love is love.

I do believe some are born as homosexuals, and others choose to be based on certain influences/experiences.However, when someone is born as a homesexual, I think the only choice we have is to act or not act upon those feelings. You just can't fight a natural "thing" within yourself.
