We outgrew the leper colony treatment style ages ago; assuming you could house that many ill people at once.

Aids has been passed by people who are straight. Maybe somewhere along the chain there was a homosexual but that may have been years ago and by someone unknown to this particular victim. To quarantine everyone with a non communicable disease is stupid. The only way one can contact HIV/AIDS is through direct contact such as sexual or through needles etc. In a safe medical clinic it won't happen with needle use. Blood is usually routinely screened for HIV/AIDS nowadays. There are treatments that keep people alive for many years once they have contacted the disease. Their awareness of their condition, through education, can make them not spread it to others. Quarantine is not the answer.

Where are you going to quarantine all these people? Are you going to send them to a deserted island in the middle of the ocean and let them fend for themselves? Perhaps Australia would be more appropriate, seeing as how it was a penal colony not so long ago. Is this your idea of punishing all those "promiscuous" homosexuals for spreading the AIDS vius across the planet. According to your thinking homosexuals are responsible for spreading AIDS and "half the population of Africa" must be gay for this to be true. Shame on all those Africans for being so careless and wreckless with their lives...

Because AIDS is very difficult to transmit. Quarantines would make no difference. That's common knowledge. The only people who ever advocate such methods are ignorant bigots who aren't concerned with health issues--they just are looking for a chance to bully gays and others they hate.

Unfortuneatly, people who contract Aids are like everyone else they figure it will never happen to them and they made a huge mistake. Why should they be punished as they are punished enough with what they now have to live with? I believe the only ones that should be punished are the ones that now have Aids and are still having unprotected sex without telling their partner.

As "good" a solution as that may be, those who have it probably don't want to be treated like outcasts. Most of those with AIDS/HIV don't even know they have it. The only way to make your solution work is if there was a global AIDS/HIV screening, which wouldn't happen because someone out there would oppose it claiming it to be cruel and inhumane.

Because it is against the law to do so, and because a quarantine is unnecessary to prevent the spread of AIDS.

hey uncle sam, you are old enough to know that some people don't know they are infected with AIDS. I know US have the highest number of AIDS victims, They spread it out unaware by having sex, blood transfusion and such.

You going to pay for it? You going to take the time to go out and find these people? You going to risk your life bringing them all in against their will? You going to sit through all the court hearings while innocent HIV victims who are not sleeping around sue you for imprisoning them for no reason?

I didn't think so.

Is this a real question?

Sure, and while we're at it, lets quarantine all the idiots, morons, buffoons, and just plain stupid people too.
