I live about a 1/4 mile away from a big zoo. When I open the windows in the morning, I can hear the animals. There's lots of dangerous wild animals in there. You know what's funny?? What's the difference between An Arkansas zoo, and any other zoo? Both have the names of the contained animals on a sign outside the enclosure, however the Arkansas zoo has recipes too.

I've been metres away from a lion on many occasions in Kenya and Namibia- thankfully we were in a vehicle! Lions aren't really jungle animals, they live in more open habitats. They're dangerous, but don't tend to target humans as prey. Elephants, buffalo and hippos (the latter has supposedly killed more in Africa than any other mammal) are very aggressive and will charge with minimal provocation, especially during the breeding season. I haven't been near black bears, since I haven't been to America, but I've heard they are quite shy compared to the much larger and aggressive Kodiak (brown) bears of Alaska. Bears (usually brown, though black bears have been known to kill) kill around 4 people annually in the united states, usually females defending their cubs. Mountain lions are also dangerous. I saw blacktip sharks, which are supposedly quite vicious, on the great barrier reef- quite glad I didn't know that at the time! But I haven't seen great whites. I think you'd have to be quite lucky to see them since they aren't that common. Again, like lions, they are formidible predators, but don't tend to target humans as prey. Mosquitoes kill over a million people a year as a result of diseases, and nile and estuarine crocodiles are fast ambush predators that do view humans as prey, unlike lions and sharks. Fewer people survive from crocodile attacks, because they have little time to react and their jaws are virtually impossible to prize open.

Where I live we have herds of the great suicidal vehicle- attacking white-tail deer. They are always trying to take out carloads of innocent travelers on the highways. They wait in the shadows until a car is passing by, then leap into the road. Sometimes bunnies & squirrels & the occasional raccoon or skunk try to imitate this behavior also.

None of the animals you list are as dangerous as the dog. In America there are millions of bites every year. Children, mail carries, delivery people are all attacked by dogs. A lot of dog owners have little concern that their "pet" is a danger to society.
There has been a rise in confrontations between people and wildlife. Nothing to do with the critter. Has to do with there being more people and more people getting outdoors.

Here in Germany they have wild pigs. I walk regularly in the woods, but have only seen signs of them, like hoofprints, dung and wallowing places. I've never seen the pigs themselves. Wild pigs can be very dangerous when cornered or surprised. Most of the time, however, they hear a person coming from a long way off and take off in the other direction.

Just be grateful if you still have any wild animals near where you live dangerous or not. The only wild animal for hundreds of miles near here is my wife after I forgot her birthday!

If you live anywhere in Europe, Asia or Africa, chances are you have a leopard near you. They have been seen in major cities eating garbage. And they are expanding their territory.
It is very adaptive and we have forced it to learn to live near us.
Myself, the most dangerous large mammal I encounter would be wild boar. But I don't bother them and they run off.
But I regularly get cobras, wolf-spiders and giant centipede in my house - does that count?
Oh, and almost every species of disease carrying mosquito breeds in the swamp near me.
