u see i put my cup of "nesvita" a fiber drink... beside my laptop... and unfortunately it spill over my laptop's keyboard.... so automatically the power went off (my laptop is on when the liquid spill) so i immediately turn it upside down to make the excess liquid...come out...and i wipe it with tissue...but i'm pretty sure that there are still excess water left... after 25 minutes i remove the battery.... from my laptop.... i tried to open it... but unfortunately...it's not functioning... I accompany my mother to shop... after 6 hrs... i went to the repair shop (4 computers) and brought my laptop to the repair center.... do u think it will be saved/recover from the damage...? from the liquid spilled? the repairman told me to wait for 3-5 days.. i'm so scared... he also told me...that if it's not recovered... it will cost almost 600 bucks...for the "new" materials... my father will get mad at me.... is there any possibility my laptop will recovered/saved? pls ignore +whiz+ in my name.

I work with computers and have seen a lot of miraculously recover from being soaked. Had one that was literally underwater for a couple hours, but after 3-5 days of drying it still worked. (We used it for another 3 years after that as your "loaner" laptop).
I am more concerned that what you spilled was not "water". Unfortunately any sugar or syrup that is in your drink will never evaporate or dry out. Rather as the water evaporates from it, it will probably become a sticky mess and attract dirt, dust, etc. Depending on where it leaked, it could also coat chips and cause them to retain heat and overheat the system.
A $600 bill to repair the unit sounds about right IF they have to replace the system board, memory and processor. If they do not have to replace all three, it could go down. (Cross fingers). With a bill that high, you might want to seriously consider purchasing a new one rather then repairing. You can not guarantee that liquid did not leak into other parts (CD drive, hard drive, etc) and might could them to fail in the near future.
Good luck....

First off, what type of computer shop? Best Buy's Geek Squad are rip-off artists who won't even fix your computer. A local do-it-yourself computer guy is always the better choice. Your power supply could be fried which is about $100 for a laptop, but its also likely your processor, ram and motherboard are kaput making your computer a empty shell. It all depends where the liquid arc'd and whether or not the power supply blew its breaker before real damaged occured. Good Luck.

probably not at this point. the battery being in for 25 minutes after the spill left the motherboard powered up. it is more then likely shorted out. at the very least a fiber drink will ruin the keyboard and that will need to be replaced.

Hard to say, but my 10yr. old spilled a big glass of apple juice on mine oneday while I was at work (it too was open). My husband flipped it over on a towel and I left it like that for about 2 days, I was really afraid of what would happen when I turned it back on, but haven't had a problem with it. Maybe I just got lucky, or gave it enough time to dry out. It depends on where it got to and how it dries. Your drink kinda sounds thick, I've never heard of it. Apple juice is sticky though and that is what worried me.
Good Luck
PS.... Nice name

It very well could be fine. We have had TWO laptops that have been spilled upon. My sis in law spilled milk in one, once it was dried, we took it apart cleaned it with alcohol and it was a-ok. Then the 2nd one, my mother in law spilled a glass of wine into it. Same thing, waited for it to dry, took it apart cleaned it with rubbing alcohol, everthing was still there, the only problem with that one was slight screen distortion. Hope you are as lucky!

You should have let it sit for a while to dry out. That can sometimes fix things. You're at the mercy of the computer repair shop...ugh I hate computer repair shops....anyway good luck. It just dpeneds on where the liquid reached.

You just have to wait and let it dry then see if it's going to work for you. Whether or not it works later depends upon the parts that got wet and how wet they got. Good luck.
