The same as the difference between a car and an automobile. Today, they are different terms for the same thing. At one time a notebook meant a computer about the size we are use to as "notebooks" or "laptops" today. While a laptop was larger, about the size of a desktop computer only without the external monitor, mouse and keyboard.

But technology has changed to where "laptops" are now as small as "notebooks". So the terms have become interchangeable.

No difference. I imagine one computer company at one time probably was trying to make their computers seems different by giving them a different name, and now the names are interchangeable.
