my neighbours are still causing havoc ..
they are entertaining guests and they have a karaoke machine
their loungeroom backs onto my bedroom ... i am hearing EVERYTHING!
I wrote them a note in a kind way saying 'be mindful of noise' ..
ive walked out to slip it under their door but piked out and walked back inside.
should i do it? or get over it and grit my teeth
:D
mind you it's 9:55pm sydney time .. are they allowed to have this much noise in a strata building block?

It's still a tad early.
First, I have questions:
Are there noise restrictions where you live (here in our neighborhood in Belgium, I think that it's midnight on a week day, for example. And the police do come!)?
Do you have to go to work/school/ get up "early" tomorrow?
Is this the first time they've pulled a stunt like this?
Do you otherwise have a good relationship with them?
Do you want to have a good relationship with them?
Do you have ear plugs?
How do you feel about calling the police?
Is anyone else on your floor or in the block visibly upset (power in numbers, right)?
I'd politely ask once, face to face, if they minded toning it down because you need to sleep. (They possibly don't realize how raucous they've become?) If they give you a hard time or simply continue -- well -- how DO you feel about calling the police?

I dont know about in Sydney but here I try to be mindful of my neighbors. If it's the weekend I try not to be outside with alot of noise past 11pm or during the week 9:00-9:30. That just because that's what I would want. If it's a one time thing I would grin and bear it until it you can't take it or go knock on their door and ask them to be quiet.

I'd just call the police and report a disturbance of the peace. You should definitely tell them to be quiet - either in person or by police. The note won't do much because they're partying. They probably won't see the note until they quit and by then you'll likely have lost your mind.

I suppose if it is the first time and you feel like you could walk over and explain your trying to sleep then do so. Of course there is the option of calling the police to do it for you. Here it is a 10pm law that is in place to keep the racket down. Good luck.

there are laws even in a strata unit
have some courage and tell them to turn the noise down if they don't call the police and stop worrying about being nice they don't care about annoying you

we dont have to turn music down till midnight here in aus so i think u are just gonna have to cop it for now. if it continues after that then just ask them nicely. if that does not work then i guess you will have to ring the cops. but they probably wont get there for hours so maybe just grit your teeth for tonight and ask them tomorrow if they would mind not doing that again

You need to knock on their door ans approach them civilly and directly with your concerns and document it. If they do not tone it down then get the super involved...

You could cook something that smells real bad. Don't get mad; get even! These people are rude and inconsiderate.

I'd do it....the worst that can happen is they won't pay any attention to it, and the music will go on..
