It needs to be light enough to carry around and not too expensive. Where should I go to get it?

The HP probably has both the standard monitor port (svga) and an s - video (circular, about 10 mm diameterwith about 4 holes). Make sure you see what the HP has so you do not buy a projecter that will not work. If you have both ports, it may be easier to use the s video port.

There are many projectors made by many vendors. As brightness (lumens) and resolution increases, so does price. Some cheaper ones are so dim that you need to turn lights off and many do not like this. Most higher resolution units are sharper but the lower resolution ones can be adequate unless you project fine details (which perhaps you should not do anyway).

Shop around with this in mind.

I'm not up to snuff on projectors but I've seen some under 1k... just go off of price and highest resolution.
