I recently went wireless but am having problems with it. Often when I try to get on line I get an error message saying it can not find the server. Internet is connected though. I think it may be problems with my computer. Can anyone help me please? Thanks

Your PC sees your Router. Your router sees the web. But your PC can't see the web.

Run the "Set up a wireless network for a home or small office" Wizard in My Network Places and follow the prompts.

Still stuck, call your ISP for help.

There are many potential causes.

Since you are able to get on sometimes and because you did not indicate you changed any configuration that caused the signal loss, it is likely that the configuration to the wireless router is proper.

I suspect you are using a notebook pc in different locations. Wireless signal does not penetrate through masonry, metal (ducts in the wall are metal and most people forget this), and thick or dense wall.

When you lose signal, move the notebook closer to the wireless access point and see if it comes back. If it does, you have a signal loss due to distance and interference. Change the wireless access point location so this is minimal.

If the signal does not come back after loss, there may be a problem with the router's firmware. If so, see if there is a newer firmware you can upload to it. Check the router maker's web site for this. ALWAYS use a WIRED CONNECTION TO THE ROUTER WHEN CHANGING FIRMWARE or you will have a major problem.

If neither of these help, write again telling us what you did; someone can help further.
