3-4 seniors,3-4 early 20s, rest middle age
4-5 Batsmen,1 or 2 alrounders,1 wk,4 bowlers
Batsmen/s role will be spelt whether to attack or consolidate depending on pitch condition and opposition attack.Usually they will be asked to play their natural game.
Bowlers to bowl to a plan with suitable changes in the field for each batsman.Long spells will be normally avoided to keep the batsmen guessing.
Lethargy in the field will not be tolerated.
Hope this will do.

Unfortunately in the present set up the Captain does not have free hand either in team selection or cokmposition of the playing 11.

However, if full power is given to Captain, the first thing to be done is to make all the players whether senior or junior aware of their role in the team and that that their place in the team will be purely based on their performance and nothing else. If a particular player fails to perform to his potentialconsistently, he should be dropped and another player should be givenan opportunity. Thhis way yoou will be able to build up a strong team in course of time.

I if would have been the captain of the Indian cricket team i would :
1)firstly remove all misconceptions from the minds of the players seniors or juniors that they are superstars.
2)secondly i would also give them the belief that not just one performance but ten good performances will guarantee their place in the team and also ask them to enjoy the game
3)thirdly i would not rest and main player...and send dhoni 1 down and take sachin as he also contributes with the ball
4)fourthly i would instill a sense of unity among the players
5)lastly my team would be :(ODI)

dhoni
sachin
dravid
yuvraj
ramesh powar
zaheer

1.I would first see that I perform well. Then only I can inspire others to perform well.
2.Next, in the present scenario, I will get good openers for the Indian team by getting the coach to train them well. I don't care whether a middle order batsman opens, as long as he scores well
3.I will encourage only performers in the team.
4. Non performers like Shewag and selfish batsmen like Sachin and Ganguly will be dropped.
5.Rotation policy for bowlers in particular

Zaheer Khan The most experienced fast – medium pace bowler of India. Debuted in 2000 and in a span of 10 years, he matured as the most consistent performer in the Indian pace attack. He is the only Indian fast bowler consistently visits the ICC cricket ratings. In the early times of his career he believed in muscling and yorking the balls. But after the retirement of Javagal Sreenath, he showed more maturity.
